You’ll learn about Hepatitis B & C, HIV and Tetanus, and the probability of picking up a infection from a needle stick injury and the factors that can affect this. We’ll also examine safe handling of sharps and tools and equipment designed to minimise the risk of injury and how they work, as well correct disposable glove removal procedure and hand washing techniques. Finally, we’ll cover how to report discarded sharps, and the procedure to follow if you’re unlucky enough to pick up a sharps injury.
