Person-centred care is about tailoring the care package to the needs of the individual by getting to know them and discovering specifically what they need. This is in contrast to ‘one-size fits all’ approaches. Legislation outlines requirements for person-centred care that healthcare professionals must follow.
Over this course you will develop an understanding of the person-centred approach to care and support, and how to implement this approach in adult social care settings. We’ll discuss what is meant by person-centred care, analyse the value of this approach and why care should, as much as possible, be adapted to each service user. Lastly, you’ll learn how to manage care plans, daily reporting, and the importance of obtaining consent.
