Learning disabilities are neurological disabilities. They are life-long and effect how individuals understand, process and remember information as well as how they learn and communicate. People can acquire a learning disability, or they can be born with one, of which there are many different types that can exhibit in many ways.
This course will develop your understanding of the different types of learning disabilities and the effects they can have on people. We’ll look at person-centred approaches to care to give the best results and how management must perform, as well as the needs of the individual. Finally, we’ll look at the stigma associated to learning disabilities and how to overcome it.
